Let Curiosity Lead is operated by Budmen Industries ("we," "us," or "our"). We believe curiosity is a civic virtue, and we're committed to holding as little information about you as we can while still carrying your words to the people who make decisions.

This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your data. By using our service, you agree to this Privacy Policy.

What Information We Collect

Information You Provide

• Your Message: The curiosity card text you write
• First Name (Optional): If you choose to share it
• Role (Optional): How you identify yourself (e.g., "student," "parent," "teacher")
• Gallery Opt-In: Whether you want your card in the public gallery
• Age Confirmation: Confirmation that you're 13+ or a parent/teacher submitting on behalf of a child
• Occasion (Only at Events): If you write a card at one of our events, the card records which event it was written at. If your card is public, that connection is public too — shown with your role, never your name.

Information We Collect Automatically

• Submission Timestamp: When you created your card. That is the only thing we record automatically.

We do not run analytics. There is no tracking script on this site, we do not measure pages visited or time spent, and we do not collect or store your IP address, browser or device. Our hosting provider (Vercel) and our database provider (Supabase) keep their own standard server logs in order to run their services, as any host does; we do not query those logs, copy them, or keep anything from them.

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Print Your Card: We print physical curiosity cards with your message and optional name/role
• Carry to Decision Makers: We compile cards into bound volumes and carry them to public leaders, community officials, congressional offices and others who affect their communities, when we have the occasion to do so
• Public Presentations: We may include your card in public presentations, talks, and events about the Curiosity Movement
• Publish in Gallery: If you opt in, your card appears in our public gallery after moderation
• Share Highlights: With your permission, we may share cards on our website, social media, or in reports about the movement
• Prevent Abuse: Every card is reviewed by a person before it is published, and submissions are automatically flagged if they appear to contain contact details

What We Share and With Whom

We Only Share What You Give Us Permission to Share

• Decision Makers & Public Leaders: Approved cards (your message and, if you gave them, your first name and role) are printed into volumes and carried to public leaders, community officials, congressional offices and others who affect their communities
• Event Pages: If your card was written at one of our events and you opted into the public gallery, it may appear on that event's page. Those pages show your role and never your name, so a card is not tied to a named person in a named place on a given date.
• Public Presentations: Your card may be included in public presentations, talks, and events about the Curiosity Movement
• Public Gallery: Only if you opt in, your card appears publicly after moderation
• Website & Social Media: Only with your consent, we may feature your card in movement highlights

Third-Party Services

• Supabase: We use Supabase to securely store your submissions (see their privacy policy at supabase.com)
• Hosting Provider: Our website is hosted on secure servers (Vercel)
• No Analytics Provider: We don't use one. No third party receives information about your visit to this site.

Legal Requirements

We may disclose information if required by law, court order, or to protect the rights and safety of Budmen Industries, our users, or others.

Children's Privacy (COPPA Compliance)

We take children's privacy seriously and comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).

• Age Requirement: Users must be 13 years or older to submit a card independently.
• Parental/Teacher Consent: If a child under 13 wants to participate, a parent or teacher must submit the card on their behalf and confirm they have permission to do so.
• Limited Data Collection: We only collect the minimum information necessary (message, optional name/role).
• No Direct Marketing to Children: We do not use children's information for marketing purposes.
• Parental Rights: Parents can request to review, delete, or stop the collection of their child's information by contacting us at hello@budmen.com.

How We Protect Your Information

We implement reasonable security measures to protect your information from unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. This includes:

• Encrypted data transmission (HTTPS)
• Secure database storage with access controls
• Moderation of all submissions before public display
• Regular security reviews and updates

However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security, which is why we encourage you not to include sensitive personal information in your cards.

Your Rights and Choices

You have the following rights regarding your information:

• Access: You can request a copy of the data we have about you.
• Correction: You can ask us to correct inaccurate information.
• Deletion: You can request that we delete your card and associated data. Note that cards already delivered to Congress or printed cannot be retrieved.
• Opt-Out of Gallery: You can request removal from the public gallery at any time.
• Withdraw Consent: You can withdraw consent for us to publish or share your card in the future.

How Long We Keep Your Information

We retain your information:

• Cards We Have Carried: Kept as part of the historical record. Once a card has been printed into a volume and hand-delivered, that volume exists in the world and cannot be recalled.
• Gallery Cards: As long as they remain in the public gallery, or until you ask us to remove them
• Rejected Cards: Deleted within 30 days. A card that doesn't pass review is never printed, published or carried, so we don't keep it.
• Technical Data: None. We don't collect any, so there is nothing to retain.

Cookies and Tracking Technologies

There are no tracking cookies on this site, and no cookie banner, because there is nothing to consent to.

• One Cookie: A login cookie, set only for us when we sign in to review cards. If you're here to write or read a card, the site never sets one.
• On Your Device Only: While you're writing, your draft is saved in your own browser so you don't lose it, and if you're offline when you press send, your card waits there until you have signal. Neither leaves your device until you send, and neither is visible to us.

International Users

Let Curiosity Lead is based in the United States. If you access our service from outside the U.S., your information will be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States. By using our service, you consent to this transfer.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make significant changes, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.

If we make material changes that affect how we use information already collected, we will notify users through our website or email (if provided).
